As many of you will know, Cancerkin’s 8th annual walk around Hyde Park took place last month on Sunday 19th June. Hundreds of our supporters, old and new, pulled on their walking shoes, put on their Cancerkin T-Shirts and headed down to Hyde Park to join us on our big day out. And what a wonderful day it was! We had a fantastic turnout of walkers, joggers and runners with crowds of families, friends, and even a troupe of ballerinas coming along to show their support for women affected by breast cancer. We were lucky enough to escape the rain, with sunny spells and a cool breeze making for perfect walking conditions, and there was a brilliant atmosphere as we all headed off around the Serpentine. Thank you to all those who turned out for our biggest event of the year!
The T-Shirts worn by each of our walkers were sponsored by GAM, the investment management firm, and looked fabulous! Refreshments on the day were kindly provided by Sainsbury’s and Ocean Spray, both longstanding and loyal sponsors of the walk. You will have spotted the team from Hyde Park’s Liberty Drives who gave up their time to join is in their motorized buggies to pick up any tired walkers around the lake. Thank you all for helping make the day such a success!

Now that the walk is complete, the grand total of donations and sponsorship money raised by our fabulous supporters is steadily climbing. Our total currently stands at just over £26,000. Well done everyone! The deadline for sponsorship money to be received by the Cancerkin Office is Monday 15th August. Any funds collected by hand can either be brought into the Cancerkin Centre or sent in the post to the above address. Please ensure that:
• Your envelope is marked for the attention of Laura Smith and clearly states that it is for the Hyde Park Walk.
• You do not send cash in the post and ensure cheques are made payable to Cancerkin .
• If you have raised money using the Cancerkin sponsorship form please ensure that all your sponsors have provided their full home address in the address box. In order for us to claim gift aid on their donation we can ONLY use their home address.
On that day we will count up how much has been raised in total and we will announce our top three fundraisers in the days following. Each of our three winners will be awarded with luxury products kindly donated by Floris, who have most generously been supporting Cancerkin and the walk for many years. Thank you, Floris.
